Kanchenjunga

Before Mount Everest was climbed and measured by humans, Kangchenjunga was considered the highest mountain in the world.

With regards to the highest fatality rate in climbing, Annapurna had a rate of up to 66% before 1990, but it dropped dramatically to 19.7% after that year. However, Kangchenjunga is an exception, with a rate of 21% before 1990 and a rise to 22% after that year.

There are a total of 16 peaks over 7,000 meters in this mountainous area, with many valleys and glaciers making the terrain even more treacherous. Avalanches and icefalls occur frequently due to the harsh climate, and from any angle, the world’s third-highest peak appears as a wide, massive massif. Unlike other mountains, this mountain has five peaks, with four of them being above 8,400 meters, and the main peak of Kangchenjunga is the highest at an elevation of 8,586 meters.
