Gasherbrum, meaning “Shining Wall,” is a majestic and rugged pyramid-shaped rock formation composed of steep ridges and towering cliffs. The campsite is surrounded by vast white glaciers and mountains, making it feel like being on an alien planet or at the end of the world. The magnificent mountains gave me the opportunity to face myself alone, and I am grateful to have been able to accompany them on this journey of life.

G1 is the second-highest peak in the Karakoram range, surpassed only by the notorious K2. It is the highest peak in the famous Gasherbrum massif, and as of 2009, 290 people had successfully reached its summit, while 26 had died, resulting in a death rate of 9%. The traditional route involves climbing along the northwest ridge. In 1892, the explorer William Martin Conway named the peak “Hidden Peak” due to its remote and elusive location.
