K2 Winter EP.1

Since the start of climbing 8000-meter peaks, climbers have been attempting to climb in even more difficult seasons due to challenging factors such as wind and temperature, not to mention unpredictable weather conditions. K2 is located on the southern edge of the westerlies in the Karakoram range, and as a solitary mountain, it is particularly affected by wind and weather. In addition, with an altitude of 8611 meters, winter on K2 brings even lower temperatures and extremely harsh climbing conditions, including winds that can reach speeds of over 80 kilometers per hour at high camps.

Winter climbing on K2 is considered the most difficult among the 14 peaks over 8000 meters, and only last year did a Nepalese team succeed in making the first winter ascent, highlighting its difficulty. To this day, no woman or non-Nepalese climber has summited K2 in this season.
